Some reliable tips--

Just back to NY from a visit to Aventura--(former Miami girl, but 30 year NYorker)----ate at Barrio Latino 3x, 2 for dinner once for lunch--family had some dietary issues this trip, so we were somewhat limited to needing some bland offerings....but I must say, every meal there was excellent as usual, this place should be a sure bet for anyone in the Aventura area, both dinners on Monday night, place was busy and lively--for lunch can't beat the price and portions...the chimicurri sauce there is fresh and great, the grilled chicken with onions, superb--maduras, sweet--child's portion big and priced great--the sangria is amazing, also--good fish dishes, too..and good palomilla steak..and service is excellent...nice to walk around there afterwards and digest food--too bad there isn't a killer dessert place there...other places are all kosher options--and I gotta say that bagel mishnosh place would never pass inspection in NY--don't know what kind of rules they have in Fl..but all the baked goods are on open sheets exposed----use your imagination to what I witnessed since chowhound doesn't like elaboration--same goes for Sara's tent, the place is an absolute dump--what happened to the great bakery that used to be there---run down, and just gross in every way-------------------that place has such possiblilities but seems so many places can't survive there.......oh well...

Original pancake house in Aventura--reliable tasty belgian waffles, omelets, etc....good place to grab a cheap breakfast--very nice servers, too....

Had a fantastic meal at Gianni's in Pompano on Atlantic blvd, this place is a throwback to classic Miami restaurants that do it all well at a great price and with good portions...excellent house salad with super fresh romain whole leaves with goronzola (reminded me of Manero's years ago)--and shallot dressing--amazing fluffy garlic rolls---delicious shrimp scampi, wonderful snapper francese, snapper oreganato, and veal parmigiana---and oil and garlic pastas---decent ricotta cheesecake, but no comparison to the riccotta cheesecake from the Italian place in Surfside, Ragazzi---Gianni's is super popular packed every pros there...this should be an absolute solid choice for anyone in the area....

Went to Juilo's and portions appear to have gotten smaller, and quality slipped---instead for healthy food we headed to Miami Juice on Collins---this place is busy, but food is fresh and portions large--their tuna is very good, and salads are good, and their rosemary chicken ok, their steamed veggies very good quality..thought that Juilo's was organic, but it's not, because Miami Jiuice is, big difference, because you don't want to juice non organic fruits and veggies......

Epicure, good to grab some things and eat them there..their tuna and smoked fish offerings are good--cream cheese with fresh scallions lovely--excellent sourdough bread, and some pastries---their prepared salads need to updating, but the classics coleslaw, etc, are reliable....pricey place ,though----

I really don't care for PF Chang in NY, especially with all the real chinese we have in Flushing, however, we were looking for some vegetable stuff--and we ended up having an excellent meal--the child's lomein chicken was liked, and I adapted something from the gluten free menu with a bunch of vegetable and it was actually wonderful....also requested scallops and some things that they had taken off their new menu and they were very accomodating--service excellent..I think that particular PF Chang in Aventura happens to be good, can't say that for other locations I've been to--one crazy thing there was a huge raccoon climbing into the garbage can as we walked into the place and it scared us to death--seems like they get invaded with them, so my advice, don't eat on the patio at night! the server told me she's scared to death to go out there----and they like to break into the fortune cookie I told her if she sees him reading it, that would be something else! :)

Hit up Anthony's coal oven, although now we've got it in NY, everything was good.
Had a wonderful sunday brunch at the cafe in Williams Island--it's private but if you get invited there, go, lovely salad selections.....

Went to Joe's of course, stone crabs were especially fresh tasting---seems like they've had a good season this year---excellent snapper, shrimp with garlic sauce, not nearly as good as it used to be--they don't use gulf shrimp anymore..also, their salmon is farmed--so stuck with locally caught snapper and it was very good and fresh, excellent, spinach, lyonnaise potatoes, and of course, perfect key lime pie...worth every penny--and we've got a lucky connection that gets us in with only a 5 min your heart out :)

Went to Yardhouse to meet some old friends, so nice they just let you hang there without bothering you---food is average, but dessert was pretty good....nice atmosphere...and good service..

Nice to see shake shack in south beach, what a perfect spot for them, and they seem to be doing great there..............

Wanted to try Kabobji but didn't make it--and can't eat fava beans which i see they make their falafel with--so next time-----couldn't eat burgers, so we didn't try Heavy Burger which was recommended to us---wonder if there's a good Persian place in miami vicinity, or good greek place, these are 2 cuisines we eat a lot of in NY------------

Weather was perfect........................
