Rehearsal Dinner - Huntington, NY

November Bride | Jan 28, 2002 11:41 AM

Hi. I'm getting married in November at a Temple in South Huntington. It is a Sunday day wedding, which is what I wanted. What I didn't think about was that that means the rehearsal dinner is on Saturday night. My mom called many many places on 110 and Jerico Turnpike near the hotel we've reserved for our out of town guests (the Melville Marriott) and only one would give us their restaurant for Saturday Night (we have between 50 to 75 people). The restaurant - Panama Hatties. I refuse to go there for many reasons, the main one is that it is way over our budget (not to mention, not a pleasant place to dine - what attitude!). Does anyone have any suggestions? We'd like to spend under $40 a person and we really want the food to be good (or at least the place to be really fun). We looked at the 57th Fighter Batallion at Republic Airport, which is affordable, will give us a room, and is sort of fun, but the food is absolutely terrible. I'd rather feed everyone pizza (Umberto's wont give us the space on a Saturday!). So, if you can think of a great place near to the area - please help. If you can't think of something with great food - at least do you have something that'd be fun? We were thinking a diner would even be fun - serve milkshakes, etc. but my mom would take lots of convincing!
