Regional Southwestern at Boxcar Cantina, Greenwich...

There's not a whole lot of Southwestern cooking going on in the Westchester/Fairfield area. When we want our fix we head over to bustling Boxcar Cantina on Old Field Point Road, Greenwich/Byram. So, on this frigid rainy Saturday, after doing a marketing romp thru Tarry Market in Port Chester; Citarella and Whole Foods in Greenwich, we drove over to Boxcar. Got there just as they were opening for dinner, about 5:30 p.m. Lingered over a couple of beers at the bar while soaking in the heat from the wood burning fireplace.
We shared an order of their wonderful Tee Pee Nachos: piled high with Jack cheddar, plum tomatoes, Kalamata olives, sour cream, scallions, and green chilies. This is not just your typical splattered platter of nachos found all over, but finessed. So good! I followed with their Boxcar Burger, Ox Hollow Farm ground beef, Jack cheddar, and New Mexican green chilies, all wrapped in a flour tortilla, served with organic fries. The ground beef patty was prepared medium as ordered, juicy and comforting. I did sneak some of their spiced ketchup here and there. We also shared a little mountain of seasoned Kale Salad, so fresh! On past visits we have enjoyed their amazing Indian Posole Soup, with chicken and vegetables, tacos and burritos...
