Refrigeration during long shipment; containers stacked at ports

News of thousands of shipping containers stacked at west coast ports makes me think of some long overdue wine I'm waiting for. And it makes me ask: How does one find out whether a given importer actually uses refrigerated transport? (When I ask, I'm often told yes, but I'd like verification.) And even if it's refrigerated on board ship, what happens when the container sits stacked at the port/ docks for days or weeks? Can even Kermit Lynch protect against that part of the journey? Is there an industry publication addressing this and related issues? -- Jake
