Un-Refrigerated Tomatoes

Over the past few years I've been driven up that proverbial wall trying to find local, vine ripened tomatoes that ripen into the classic "Jersey Tomato"

My knowledge is that as long as a tomato hasn't been refrigerated it will ripen into a lush red, juicy, flavor packed tomato. Last year I tried tomatoes from Reading Terminal, Fresh Fields, the Italian Market and some local farmers' markets. The only tomatoes I found that ripened properly were the heirloom tomatoes from the Tuesday farmers' market on South Street.

Anyone have other reliable sources for local tomatoes? Anyone have other sources for genuine heirloom tomatoes?
