When I stopped by Han Ah Reum in Woodside this morning, the man who makes the tofu was handing out samples of a freshly-made ice-cold soybean soup. It was milky and very simply flavoured with a bit of salt and sesame oil - ultra-refreshing in the heat.
It's in big plastic soup containers in tofu section in the front for $4, right above a big box of crisp pale Korean cucumbers.
I couldn't get an explanation of what this soup is called (the label is in Korean), but it's fantastic for the summer. I don't know if it's for something special, or if they'll have it all summer long, but I hope so.
