Was nearby, so stopped at the Reef. Son proudly showed me write-ups in last week's Improper & Globe Magazine. Hard to make a choice, but I went with the #30 Makanek sandwich, billed as Mediterranean style sausage stuffed w/mix of ground lamb & beef marinated with spec'l Middle-Eastern spices. Son said it was spicy & I said, Great! Whole family was there & mama cooked mine to order. It was laid out on fresh, soft flat bread & topped w/tomatoes & other sliced veggies, pickles, a shake of Aleppo pepper plus a creamy, tangy dressing, then popped into a hot press & browned. 1st bite, I thought, not so spicy - then the heat hit! This ample roll up was redolent with spices, hot & absolutely delicious. Am going to try the #15 Chicken Livers sandwich next time. Lots of folks in & out for take-out. What are some of your favorites?
