Business took us to Reedley for a few hours yesterday and it was hitting dinner time. We decided to ditch the six teens at home (they can order pizza one night a week!) and have a romantic dinner at Jon's Bear Club. This was our second meal here.
This place could become a habit real quick! I started with the JCB crab cakes. Panko crumb crusted, Pacific Dungeness Crab Cakes with an avocado fan, remoulade sauce and spicy slaw. Mmmm!!! Served in a beatiful clear glass platter. Very nice, paired with a glass of Mondavi Johannasburg Riesling which was perfect, cool and sweet.
For my next course I chose the field greens which consisted of mixed baby lettuces with raspberry vinaigrette and crumbled blue cheese. A very nice size salad, but not overly-filling.
For our entree we split the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast which is grilled chicken crusted with grain mustard and Parmesan cheese with a lemon beurre blanc sauce. Served with a side of garlic mashed potates and grilled summer squash. Our bill for two was just under $50.
We bartered with the waitress and she said she would not charge the split plate fee if I ordered the extra field green salad. (6.95) She snuck a small bread plate from the kitchen so Jon wouldn't reprimand her for not charging us for the extra plate.
