Redwood Market & Deli (San Rafael)

Malcolm Ruthven | Apr 26, 201906:38 PM     2

Redwood Market & Deli recently opened at 1304 2nd Street, San Rafael, the location of the old Belli Deli. I stopped in there today for lunch, and found a completely remodeled modern-looking place. I had their Cubano sandwich ($9.00) and it was excellent, probably better then the one at Sol Food. The owner was sitting and working at a table near mine and she knew the components of the sandwich including the excellent roll it was on (a Spanish roll with a name I can't remember). The fact that she knew those ingredients of that one sandwich impressed me, as did the sandwich itself. They also have pastries from the excellent Starter bakery in Oakland. The owner said they were still in their soft-opening mode, working out the kinks, and would publicize more later. I don't think they have a website yet. This seems like a new high-quality deli. Check it out.
