Hey all, I've just discovered a way to cook chickpeas in 1/2 hour. It takes some time, but saves on energy. I was sprouting chichpeas, when I realized that I had soaked to many. I ended up cooking the surplus and discovered that they cook quickly!
1.Soak beans 24 hrs
2. Drain in the morning and soak again until evening.
3. Drain. Place in covered bowl overnight.
4.Rinse and drain, morning and night
5.The next day, cook the beans 1/2 hour and they are done!
In effect, the beans have begun the sprouting process. Sprouted beans reportedly cause less gas. The beans cook more quickly. Win/win situation.
Works well with kidney beans as well.
