Castle Rock Coffee & Mercantile is the new cafe on Hwy 68 that took over the wood sculpture space next to Toro Cafe. Beans are from local roaster, Acme Coffee in Seaside. The case features goods from local bakeries such as Reds Donuts and Paris Bakery. It opened in December.
I dropped by last week to give it a whirl. The barista was very friendly but not good at making cappuccino. The espresso was quite bitter and the foam was an oversteamed giant puff ball. I did like the apple fritter from Red's for its crunchy nooks and crannies even though it had little apple.
Anyone else try it?
