Redbird - Flying High

Very good meal last night at Redbird.
A welcome addition, I would say, beautiful space, and wonderful service

Tempura Smelt -- 1/2 Star
Potato Crusted Pork Shank -- 2 Stars
Chicken Pot Pie (with heart!) -- 2 1/2 Stars
Thai Style Dungeness Crab Crab soup -- 4 Stars
Braised Goat Gamelli -- 4 Stars
Rabbitchetta - 5 STARS

This was a meal that got better and better as the stars reflect - which is so different from so many places where the appetizers are much better than the main courses.
The only thing I didn't care for was the smelt - AND I LOVE FRIED SMELT. They just didn't pop, seemed too greasy, like they were not dried properly or sat around a little too long before serving. The grilled lemon was a nice touch though. The staff was SUPER abut replacing them and not charging us for the smelt or the replacement.

There is a really cool looking big rotisserie style "grill" (or something) outside and they get a wonderful smokey flavor on the pork shank and the goat and the rabbit - I assume it was from that contraption but I don't know if that is where it came from - either way - REAL good.
