Lunch yesterday was at Red Stripe and I really enjoyed it. Sat at the bar, decor and atmosphere were nice. Not crowded for lunch although I understand it's a different story at night. I had onion soup - excellent. The fries ('frites') w/aioli are also excellent. I had a glass of a really nice red zin for $5.75....wine list is very reasonable. I want to go back at night for the moules & frites (mussels w/fries). Someone on this board a few months ago mentioned the food just being okay - I think it's relative....they aren't trying to compete w/the fine dining places....they are going for the vibe of a Paris brasserie.....a neighborhood joint w/well prepared simple food.

I had dinner at d.carlo in Smithfield Friday and that was very good as well. Fried risotto balls (yum), fettucine w/walnuts and brown butter sage sauce (good but you really need to love butter for this one) and a nice soft chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Castle Rock red zin, and a limoncello on the rocks to finish. Nice atmosphere, nice bar.
