Recently had lunch in the new Red Parrot next to Tapas Teatro and The Charles, because I had enjoyed the Anne Arundel branch. Quite a mixed bag, but the menu stood out for offering, along with Asian American cliches, Malaysian Roti, Xiao Long Bao and a few other interesting sounding dishes. I had the Xiao Long Bao-- Shanghai soup dumplings-- and their texture was authentic, which made me want to return. I also had steamed buns, which were really just flattened pre-steamed buns wrapped over a hoisin duck filling My partner had Mongolian Beef, which was as bad as in any other Baltimore Chinese restaurant.
So does this palce have potential, if you avoid the cliches? Who else is willing to try it out and report on it?
