Red Kwali in Newark revisited.

Last night we had guests from out of town and since two of them (bother and sister) grew up in Panang we wanted them to try Red Kwali in Newark.

I let the pair order so they could remember their childhood in Panang. My husband of one said “this the most excited my wife has ever been in a restaurant”.

Anyway they informed me that this really how the food is back home.

Everything was cooked perfectly like theyremember it. We order most the same dishes as we had at our last chow down a couple months ago so I will not repeat the dishes again.

What I had that we did not have were spicy shrimp dish and a curry vegetable dish. I was given the list of dishes but I am unable to found it in the car at this time. But if I run across it later I will post.

The laska was something that was one that remembered. It did not have coconut milk in it and that is the way he remembered it. He said he had many discussions with friends that the correct version and this was it. His sister also told me that the next time she goes she not sharing this dish with none of us.

The only dish that did not meet with great approval was the stuffed tofu which they said was rough to the taste. But everything else was just right.

So now I am sure that Red Kwali is something that is for real. On Saturday when we arrived at 6:30 PM it was empty but it turned over twice as we left. So Han you do not have to worry you will get you fix of this type of food. So if plan to go than you may need a book ahead.
