In my ongoing quest to satisfy my frequent lazy, chinese take-out nights I've tried most of the places in Park Slope. I've concluded that none of them are great, few are passsable, and Red Hot is the best. The main things that set it above others are that it tastes fresher, they don't use anything canned, and have a few nice substitutions for the standard bell pepper and onion such as dried/reconstituted shitake, celery, and fresh waterchestnuts (or is it daikon?). Also, they make things appropriately spicy upon request.
I think the second best choice is Hunan Garden on Union, which has some standouts, such as the best wontons I've had in Brooklyn (only in the C-Town style noodle in soup), but some big misses as well.
