For the second time this month, my wife and I had a great dinner at Red Cafe on Fifth Avenue in the Slope. I'd suggest checking out their nightly specials: I had an excellent ragout of rabbit over papardelle, and a wondeful appetizer of porcini barley soup. The chef seems to takes real care with some inventive dishes.
Being it was a Sunday, we were just one of two tables there early last night, but it seems this place should be getting more business. I know there were some mixed posts on this place last month, but we've yet to be let down sticking with the specials.
