Any recs for Japanese pork bowl?

pharmnerd | Mar 20, 2008 04:19 PM

Was tired of ramen one lunch and took a chance on Daikokuya's shredded pork bowl. It was good stuff. In fact, I almost exclusively order this rice dish over their popular ramen. It's not really shredded, but small chunks (~1cm cube) of what looks like kurobuta ('black pork") over a bed of rice, drizzled w/ a light teriyaki-ish sauce and covered with green onions.

I tried the same at Santouka (in the WLA Mitsuwa market on Centinela), but it was dry and a tad salty.

Is this dish a real import from Japan? Any other good places to get this in LA or OC?
