I’m cross listing this message on the France and Italy boards since I’m traveling to both countries in early August. I’m looking for suggestions of good places to eat in the cities below. I realize there may be previous similar posts, so please provide a hyperlink to them if possible.
Italy – Milan; Venice; Verona
I traveled to Milan and Venice six years ago, and ate some very good meals at these places:
Trattoria il Carpaccio - Via Lazzaro Palazzi
Bar Trattoria dell Angolo - Via Formentini
Ristorante al Conte Pescaor - S. Marco - S. Zulian
Hotel Savoia & Iolanda - Riva degli Schiavonni,
Ristorante "Da Mario" Alla Fava - Calle Stagneri
France – Paris; Nimes; Avignon; Le Mazel area
I know Paris is a big city, but we’d take a cab and/or subway for good fare. I’m game for anything as is my wife, but I’m especially interested in good charcuterie, cheese, baked good, and coffee. As I like to say, the localer, the better. Yes, we’re tourists, but I want nothing to do with the hordes of other visitors that will be there. I’m particularly keen on finding a places or several that offer good kouing amman. I know this is a Breton delicacy, but I figure it’s got to be found elsewhere in France.
At least once too we’d like also like to treat ourselves to a solid, nearly over the top dinner, both in France and Italy. The last such meal I had in Italy was at the Enoteca Pinchiorri – amazing.
In Italy we’re looking for the same; local and tasty. Again, a good list of cafes, trattorias, bakeries, cheese places, and of course coffee. We’re only going to be in Verona for a day, so we’ll have to make the most of our time there.
Merci and grazie to all the France and Italy hounds for your suggestions!
