I've had a Hamilton Beach food processor since the early 80's and am ready to buy a new one, mainly, because I think I need something better to handle pie dough. I always have to hold the top cover of the bowl because the flour spurts out all over and I always feel I have to pulse too much to get the ingredients incorporated. I'm never left with the layering of fat that makes dough flakey and light, even with chilling and not letting the dough get to the ball stage. The processor is ok for most other tasks, that's why I haven't bought a new one. Any thoughts as to which one I should buy? My family is small and I don't entertain that much. I haven't started looking yet as I thought I'd come here first for help. What can I expect pricewise? Years ago, Cuisinart was the preferred brand of my friends. I'm sure there are other brands out there now.
