I met a group of ladies yesterday at the Del Mar races and we eventually got around to discussing food.
Several of them higly recommended Pin's Wa in Rancho Santa Fe.
Does anyone know of this place and like to share their knowledge with us? It's a bit out of the way for me but I will definitely get there at the first opportunity.

Also, had dinner recently at Luna Notte in Point Loma.
My son in law and I shared the bouillabaisse (sp?) for starters. It was beyond raves. The base was tomato but neither acidic or sweet. I don't know how they did it but it left a wonderful lingering flavor. I can't wait to go back for more. There were mussels, clams, shrimp and white fish and they graciously divided the dish for us in the kitchen. For our main course we also shared the veal piccata, again served on two plates at no extra charge. Oh yes! Piquant caper sauce, perfect veal, al dente veggies. The restaurant is family owned and occupies what was once a small house. There is a lovely outside patio and the dining room is as if you were in the home of friends. Gracious, efficient and non patronizing service adds delight to an all around relaxing and satisfying meal. They serve a robust espresso, very limited wine selection.
I couldn't spoil a perfect dinner with dessert so I didn't even look. A cigar would have been perfect.
