I've surfed for specific reports on good places to eat in Istanbul, but the info is either dated or vague. If you've been there recently, I'd appreciate some tips. My companion for an upcoming trip in April and I both love meze and middle-eastern cuisine, so we don't want "continental" or other tamed-down-for-the-tourist menus. We're willing to try simple local home-style cooking and one fine feast, preferably in a wonderful, traditional setting. We are two women, so we want to feel welcome and comfortable.
Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.
