My husband and I and our two kids (ages 3 and 7) will be visiting Bologna for 6 days later this month, and we would very much appreciate recommendations on dining options in and around Bologna. We plan to sample the markets and cook in our flat, but we do want to eat out at least a few times while we're there. I've done of a fair amount of research, but at this point, I am overwhelmed with choices and conflicting opinions.
We would like to have dinner (or lunch) in a restaurant that offers traditional Bolognese cuisine and another restaurant that takes a more creative approach to those traditional dishes. Establishments could run the gamut from white table cloth to street food so long as the food is good and my kids will be welcome there. We have no dietary restrictions and really want to sample the best the region has to offer. I have identified Drogheria della Rosa, Trattoria Gianni, Da Nello, Osteria Broccaindoso, Scacco Matto and Ristorante Donatello as possible options, but am open to scrapping this list completely.
We currently have reservations at Franschetta 58 in Modena and Trattoria Corrieri in Parma (for my daughter's birthday). We are also visiting Antica Corte Pallavicina to tour the farm and sample culatello and other meats for lunch.
Thanks very much for any insight you can provide.
