Need recommendations for 2 meals for a DC chowhound

Hello fellow hounds

My wife, 2 year old son and myself will be driving to Toronto to visit family next week. I need help/suggestions for two meals. We have only one meal planned for this trip at Fishman Lobster Clubhouse

The first meal is a lunch for just the three of us. We will be stopping at Niagara falls in the morning then getting lunch somewhere and eventually heading to Whitby where our cousins live. Where should we stop for lunch? We love ethnic food of all kinds. What are your top spots for a casual lunch. Doesn’t have to be super cheap but not $$$$ either. We love any kind of Asian cuisine whether it’s Japanese, Thai, Filipino, Chinese, etc. We also love anything from Jewish deli to pakistani kabobs, Indian curries and Ethiopian. We will have a 2 year old with us so nothing too fancy although he is pretty good in restaurants these days.

The other meal is a dinner out. Just adults. Saturday night. Where should we go? What’s your favorite restaurant for dinner. We typically like what I would call chefy type food. Not overly fancy but just decidedly yummy. Right now I have Pinky’s Ca Phe and Dailo on the radar although I don’t have a good reservation yet for DaiLo. Is the wait at Ca Phe reasonable if we show up at 8pm or so? Where else should we consider?
