Hello, we are two mid thirties restaurant industry professionals living in NYC and planning to spend half the summer exploring wineries and dining in much of Western Europe. We will be making our way via train coming from Lyon to the Piedmont region first, staying in Asti near the train station for 3 days to explore Barolo, Barbaresco, etc- much of the wine aspect will be taken care of through the beverage directors of the restaurants we work in. Looking for restaurant and even food market/specialty food store recommendations. We don't mind a splurge here and there ($100 per person without booze) but it's a long trip we are taking so mostly more affordable restaurants are preferred ($30 or so per person).
After Asti we head to Genoa for one night to see a concert at Arena del Mare then the next morning we will take a train to Corniglia for 3 days in 5 Terre. Next is Bolgheri/Carducci for 3 days of Super Tuscans before heading to Civitaveccia to board a weeklong cruise that will make a half day stop in Pisa/ Livorno. I'd would appreciate and and all advice on any portion of this trip which will take place this mid July.
