Hello, Hounds! I need some simple recipes that include flavorful spices and/or herbs, to help make my non-foodie family less fearful of bold ingredients. We live in eastern Kentucky and we make a mean fried chicken here and nobody can compete with our gravies, but beyond that, we could really use a fresh infusion of flavor. I love my native cuisine, but every big family dinner includes more fat and calories than anybody ever needs to eat. I've tried introducing them to homemade sushi and they thought I was nuts. I made minted lemonade for the 4th of July and my aunt swore it was spiked with alcohol! (I introduced them to fresh pineapples with good results, though.) I'd like to find some simple recipes that are quick to cook (maybe even microwaveable?), without too many ingredients, health-conscious, preferably not fried, and blow-their-minds good. I hope that isn't too tall an order, and I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks.
