I just got a rice cooker to free up a burner on my stove. I am fine making regular rice but would like to venture into other types of rice...pilafs, saffron rice etc. Is this possible in a rice cooker and if so how? Does anyone have any good recipes or a suggestion as where to go to find some?
I understand that the rice cooker works by sensing when all the water has evaporated, so can someone explain the basic idea and timing behind most rice cooker recipes so I can improvise? I mean, should I start it in in a pan on the stove and then transfer it to the rice cooker when I add the liquid? Thanks.
