Recipe search: baked beans, no molasses/ketchup/bacon

Good day Chowhounds,
About a million years ago, my grandmother served a dish of baked beans that were unlike any baked beans I'd ever had. They were navy beans, and there was butter, and certainly some sugar - but no molasses or ketchup or bacon or any of the flavors we might usually associate with baked beans. I don't recall pork more generally, but a bit of salt pork wouldn't have been terribly out of place.

Does this kind of bean recipe sound familiar to anyone? My grandmother was from Rochester, NY, if that helps - who knows, maybe it was a regional thing. If so, would you share a recipe?

Thank you!
