A couple of weeks ago, in a great northern style Chinese restaurant in Monterey Park, CA we had this wonderful appetiser of cold eggplant with garlic.
It was your standard Chinese or Japanese eggplant which had been split and stuffed with chopped garlic and then I think it was steamed. Anyrate, it was served cold and completely sauceless. No little pieces, no rice, no noodles. And it was really really good, so good that I keep thinking of driving out there for more. I can't find a similiar recipe anywhere and before I start deconstructing what I ate, I thought I'd see if anyone else had a recipe.
