Hi - I've been searching for a recipe for an Iranian chicken & tomato dish called Vavishka for several years, to no avail. Does anyone have any clues as to where I might find a recipe?
A Persian restaurant in my neighbourhood used to make it - it was small chunks of chicken breast, simmered for a long time in a tomato sauce, beautifully spiced, served with Basmati rice. The restaurant closed suddenly and I never got a chance to ask them exactly how it's made.
No other Persian restaurants I've tried have had it on the menu. Internet searches are fruitless. (Only two results even come up for the term - one of them showing a bizarre-looking canned variety of Vavishka!)
I've asked numerous Iranian people I've met - none of whom have even *heard* of the dish. Apparently it comes from a very specific part of Iran, near the border with one of the former Soviet states.
Any suggestions or clues would be appreciated!
