Last week I had one of my great food epiphanies of the year: I had a hazelnut tart that was so simple, yet also life-altering. It was also one of those moments where, after jumping up and down with delight (because I was too deep in taste bud ecstasy to actually speak), I couldn't help but wonder "why haven't I thought of this before?" Because, basically, it was a pecan pie, only made with hazelnuts. It was a pie crust, that wonderful gooey filling, the flavor of toasted hazelnuts throughout, and a thin, lightly carmelized top dotted with bits of hazelnuts. Before I try to concoct one on my own, does anyone have a recipe to share? Also, I tasted this in Stockholm, so I'm wondering if cane syrup would have been used instead of corn syrup? This would be my first time improvising a baked dessert so I'll be grateful for any ideas you can offer. THANK YOU!
