Any reason I couldn't halve this cake recipe?

This is the same as the Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake but using dark cocoa powder. I always make it as a Bundt cake for some friends who tell me it's wonderful, but never get to try it myself. My husband and I don't need an entire cake for ourselves and am wondering if I could halve the recipe and bake in an 8x8 pan.

Since I don't have a good track record for going off-recipe, I wanted to check first.
