Real, Traditional Club Sandwich in LA?

Question

Ok, where can I find a real, honest to goodness Club Sandwich in LA? Even the diners seem to alter it. Basically, I am looking for:

Turkey (or chicken, if you must), bacon, tomato, lettuce and mayo on three slices of white toast, cut in quarters, on the diagonal. Extra bonus if they're secured with toothpicks with the colored plastic on the ends. 

I don't mind having to ask them to hold the cheese, ham, mustard or avocado, but anything other than triple-decker, white toast is a deal-breaker.

A friend ordered one at Bottega Louie when we went for lunch. It may have had avocado, but I can't remember.

Shutters on the Beach has a chicken club that's pretty nice. Nueske bacon, perfectly cooked chicken. I have spent my life trying to avoid mayo, so I rarely order a club. 

The obvious place to get a traditional club might be at a country club, (that's where I had my first club sandwich with 5 grape juice transfusions) but I haven't been to one West of the Rockies.

I think Greenblatt's has a pretty traditional one. And I agree...it's gotta have the toothpicks with the colored plastic!

The best club sandwich I've had in town is at Doughboy's on 3rd. Everything is fresh and the toasted french pan de mie bread is killer, but not square. Lulu's on Beverly make a very good traditional club sandwich - square bread diagonal cut.

If you are in Eagle Rock, we always get the turkey club at Pete's Blue Chip. It's great and they put in a slice of american cheese along with grilled turkey deli slices. It's not fancy but we like it.

You're not going to believe me, but head to Marix Tex Mex in Santa Monica Canyon. They have a traditional club sandwich that is exactly what you seek. I have a friend who drags me there every so often to satisfy his club sandwich craving and he swears it's the real deal.

As others have said, I have seen them everywhere. Jans has a good one and even Norm's has a decent one. I like it whole wheat toast myself.

I frequently get the club sandwich at Canter's, Swinger's, and the 101 Coffee Shop on Franklin. I believe all 3 are unadulterated versions of the classic (unless I'm forgetting something), and all three are entirely decent, although I think the 101 may be the better of the 3.

Le Petit Four on Sunset makes a great club sandwich (they roast their own turkey). You will, however, need to request the 3rd piece of toast. Darn tasty fries too.

Poolside cafe at Beverly Hills Hotel. I had it with grilled chicken but it's pretty darned good, complete with fancy toothpicks to prevent toppling. Opting for chicken in your club usually results in getting "real" meat as opposed to processed turkey. I shudder at the thought of what Denny's would serve labeled as "turkey."

I'm late to the party but the Hamburger Hamlet at least used to have exactly what you described. I only hesitate because I've not had one from them in many years so I can't swear if its even on their menu any more, but might be worth checking.

I resisted replying to this post because I am really out of the loop, but in the past the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach made the greatest club sandwiches as exactly described.

I'm late replying too, but I recently had a good club sandwich from the Gobbles & Oinks food truck. It was parked in front of Wine Expo for an event I attended there. Their other sandwiches got rave reviews from others at the party as well.
