Althought it's been open two years, we just discovered Amori in Monrovia. Chef Pedro Simental, formerly of Shiro and Devon, loves to cook and it shows. The food is California-French with an Asian influence. The room is small and comfortable with tables not too close together. Since it was not busy (lunch) he offered to create a special menu for us. Each dish was a delight: lobster bisque, dungeness crab crepes, shrimp tempura, kobe beef with fois gras. We didn't think we had room for dessert until he produced a sweet potato custard with the lightest puff pastry. Open for lunch and dinner. I hope enough people find and support this gracious and gifted chef.
