RAW report

Tried Raw, on Sansom & 13th, for the first time last night. We got appetizers off the main menu, a variety of sushi and rolls, and a flight of four sakes. Our orders were quite delicious - fresh, well-prepared, good flavors -- and the menu looked full of things I wanted to try. Unfortunately, they were out of a few selections (oddly enough, all vegetarian - plum paste and shiso leaf rolls, tempura yam rolls, asparagus rolls). Sushi portions (especially for the "super rolls") are generous. The design of the restaurant is also quite nice.
The service, however, was disappointing. We were first served most of our sushi - two kinds of rolls and a couple of pieces of sushi. We had also ordered yellowtail sushi, which was not on the plate with the rest of it. We called this to the waitress' attention. Before we were finished with our sushi, our appetizers were brought out. FYI, the plates at Raw are enormous, and two is about all you can fit commfortable on a table. Nevertheless, with some squeezing, our waitress managed to cram all the plates on. Our table was covered in plates. We ate our appetizers, and at some point our hamachi sushi finally arrived. After we were done eating, we sat at a table covered in empty plates for about 15-20 minutes until the waitress came around to bring our check. She didn't seem physically able to clear all the giant plates at once, so she took them two at a time, slowly. When we had paid and gotten up to leave, our table still had dirty dishes on it.
