Raving Review-Sabor

Thursday night, after much research for a fun restaurant for my friend and I to go to around 9:30/10:00, we decided to get off the subway around 86th and walk on Amsterdam in search of something that struck us as cool, preferably with outdoor seating. After a few places that seemed ok we found Sabor, and knew right away it was the place. We were seated pretty quickly and the service was great, as the waiter gave us suggestions and was very friendly. Most of the customers order drinks and tapas-various appetizers to share, usually instead of main dish. We shared five different ones, I had grilled spicy shrimp, as she doesnt eat seafood and she had meat skewers chimichurri, as I avoid red meat. We then shared three others-two small chicken empanadas, very good, corn cakes which came in a great but not heavy sauce, and finally tuna ceviche which was amazingly flavorful. We weren't sure how to eat this as it came in a cocktail glass, but we decided to just take our forks and dig in. This was the kind of food where you find yourself eating every crumb and drip of sauce just to savor the flavors. Each dish was really flavorful, yet nothing tasted the same. We also each had a glass of very good Sangria, making us which we had split the pitcher sized version instead. After these dishes we were satisfied, not exactly full, but we opted to walk back to Columbia and get tasti dlite on the way, but we could have tried more appetizers. Now more to try next time! This was definitely one of the best $30 I've spent on dinner in a long time, and I felt like we were in Mexico. Fue una cena fantastica!
