After a series of food poisoning incidents involving Devon Street Indian rests, I'd pretty much given up on Indian food. An attendant at my gym (Lakeshore) used to be a devotee of Hema's kitchen before it got popular/iffy, and he has since transferred his allegiance to Ravi Kabab House (RKH). After much discussion/preaching on his part, kvetching on my girlfriend's part, and a general desire on my part to get on with my bench presses, I ended up making it to RKH.
So. Not a place to hang out and eat. Very, very bright (not unlike an operating theatre). Food shows up about five minutes after you ordered, and once you're done, they want you out. Definitely a take out joint.
That said, it's probably some of the best Indian that I've had in a long time. Spectacular Haleem and Eggplant Bhartha, great fluffy naan, non-greasy biryani with actual identifiable Named Meat Parts in them. I can't recommend this place highly enuff - we've had takie-outie from there at least once since then.
Oh yes, in case you're wondering, when it comes to food-poisoning, I'm like the canary in the coal mine. One bacillus and I'm all done. And no, no ill effects at all from RKH
