Just returned from our E-R trip, there was lots of good eating!
A highlight of the trip was a daytrip out to Ravenna which is really an extraordinary destination - a great manageable town with its collection of 1500 year old churches with their amazing mosaics. I had about 5 restaurants on my list of candidates, but we would up at a romagnoli slowfood place, Osteria dei Battibecchi, in the center, a cozy family restaurant where I was served one of the most memorable dishes of the trip, liver (pork) just a little pink, grilled in caul fat with herbs. My husband's grilled sausage was also excellent, as were our pastas, mine a tagliolini with asparagus, the sauteed "erbette di campo" (chard), the piadina, and the sangiovese. Very reasonably priced, cordial and very well done food.
