Right now, strawberries and raspberries are at their peak in New England Markets. There are plenty of places to pick your own strawberries, and raspberries at the store are looking (and tasting) really good this year.
To top it off, my local Shaw's is selling raspberries at $1.97 for a 6-ounce container. Not bad considering I have seen the same size going for $5.99 at Balducci's.
So far I have made the following:
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
Strawberries Romanov (Mound of strawberries covered with strained fresh raspeberry puree) served with vanilla ice cream
Raspberry Pie (for my Editor's birthday)
Strawberry Shortcake (with homemade buttermilk biscuits)
This weekend I will be putting up a few batches of Strawberry freezer jam.
Any other suggestions out there, either sweet or savory??
