Rare, Murray Hill

We went to Rare, Murray Hill, last night for the first half of a belated celebration of the March 14th "Men's Holiday."
I've lived in the "Hill of Murray" for almost 10 years and for some reason have only been to Rare a handful of times.
I love the space and convenience BUT: The Hostess was a grumpy, gruff, grouch! Maybe her cat died?
She tried to put us at the bar. When I started to say that we had an Open Table res she had turned her back and walked to the bar. She returned to her podium and I repeated myself. Without a word she walked to a table and put down the menus turned her back and left. Oy!!
Our sever, Olivia, on the other had, was bright, gracious and bubbly. When we ordered drinks I asked her to make sure we were checked in on the OT res which she did. The hostess had neglected to do so.
Appetizers of skewered shrimp and Brussel sprouts were tasty and excellent. To honor the holiday we ordered the Cowboy Rib Eye to share. I love rib eye but this one was tough. Not bad enough to send back but not marbled enough to be tender.
We considered dessert but were quite full.
