I'm curious about ranges with French tops. I've never used one, or even seen one in use.
For people who have them, do you find them useful, and are there things that are actually a lot easier, or better, when prepared with a French top? I'm looking at some 48 inch ranges and I really don't need 8 burners. We only have three that work on our current cooktop, and rarely uncover more than two;-)
It seems like they would be inconvenient for general use, since the instructions all say you have to heat them for 15 minutes.
