We were out in Bensonhurst to pick up desserts at VILLABATE for a dinner party ,so we decided to drive over to RANDAZZO'S in Sheepshead Bay for dinner.
It was a chilly night and there weren't the usual crowds.
We had an excellent seafood dinner and reminded ourtselves that this is a place we need to hit more often.
We started out with the Lobster Bisque and the Soft Shell Crab. The bisque was lovely, rich with cream in a lobster stock with nice chunks of sweet lobster meat and not too many potatoes. The Fried Soft Shell Crab was outstanding ..the first of the season. It was was an enormous specimen, perfectly prepared in a light breading, golden brown, sweet and crispy. Delicious, especially when dipped in their "secret sauce Medium"
We ordered the fried scallops served with a large order of fried zucchini, proposed by our very helpful waitress instead of the fries on the menu.The scallops were beautiful, fresh, not frozen, of excellent quality. We also had the Grilled Lobster Tail which was wonderful. The Lobster came with a half order of pasta with the sauce...how do they make that sauce?
We had a wonderful seafood feast at a very reasonable price. Everything was so fresh and freshly prepared.The homey atmosphere and friendly service make this a gem to treasure.
How do they make that sauce? It is thick, rich, substantial, and luscious, unlike any I have ever tasted elsewhere. The only thing I could get out of the waitress was it didn't have olives or anchovies, the rest is secret.
