In addition to our ongoing Santa Cruz Sweets Discovery Tour, seems as though we've embarked on a summer cycling Roadhouse Tour. Unlike Buck's in Woodside (see separate listing) which won our hearts, devotion and probable Roadhouse Tour award, Rancho Nicasio was a BIG loser. Sunday Summer Bar B Ques legendary for good music, found their Saturday lunch and service just awful. Arrived after the noon time rush--only about 3 other tables (and they had been served). Never acknowledged by one of the several servers or host, finally seated ourselves and then waited 20 minutes for service. Finally got our order in and then waited another 30 minutes for food. Salads and burgers disappointing, sloppy, no taste and everything that could be greasy, was. Beers and iced tea never came before food, requested upon arrival of food, brought out wrong beers and no iced tea. Room was beyond rustic, instead very tired looking--outside deck only palatable option. Good stop for cyclists to grab a drink, use the restrooms and on Sundays perhaps listen to music---but skip the food and service! Unfortunately, a place that could be a truly wonderful addition to the roadside genre of eateries = a pass-by.
