Ramen in manhattan

Checked out the 55th St. Menchanko-Tei last night and we were somewhat disappointed. I had the Hakata Ramen which I believe is the gingery broth Jim refers to in his recent WJHFD and although I agree wholeheartedly with his asessment of the roast pork which was tender and had terrific flavor, I found the broth to be just OK and the noodles themselves to be somewhat insipid. MF had the other kind of ramen on the menu (name eludes me just now) and that was the same story - great pork, OK broth, insipid nodles. Overall, we like Rai Rai Ken on E. 10th better.
