I recently started working in the E Village area and was really looking forward to trying the ramen at Rai Rai Ken (214 E. 10th St), given the lack of eateries that serve ramen around the city. I went there yesterday, enjoyed the miso ramen (which was good, not as good as the ones I've had in L.A. but enjoyable enough) and about 5 minutes later I got a stomach ache. The stomach ache (which did not feel like heartburn or any other stomach ache I've had before) continued through the evening and only when I took some Mylanta did it subside a bit. Luckily, I happened to have a doctor's appt that day and asked the doctor about it and he said it could've been the preservatives found in ramen. I'm not sure if I'm convinced since the ramen noodles tasted fresh and I don't think it was the meat or the soup since the meat was thoroughly cooked and I didn't have any of the typical symptoms of food poisoning afterwards (nausea). I was just wondering though--has anyone else ever had this experience?
