Rambutan Thai review

So happy to find great Thai delivery in my hood, Echo Park/Silverlake. The great thing is it's a cool place to eat at too. Small corner of a little strip mall, simply but stylishly decorated, nice lighting. I'd say this was Thai with a healthy Californian fresh taste and flare, not as traditional as you'd get in Thai town.

I've eaten food from there about four times and have been darn pleased each time. I usually judge a Thai place by their Tom Kha Gai soup and their's is really good. Not too thick, not too thin, the right amount of tang and kick, nice thinly sliced hunks of chicken breast. My favorite appetizer so far is the curry dumplings. Forgive me if I get the names wrong, they're called something else on the menu. Homemade, shrimp and scallop dumplings, atop shredded carrot and a light cream curry sauce. The Larb is good with option of beef or chicken minced with veggies and quite a kick, served in cabbage cups. The Naked shrimp salad, butterflied shrimp (fresh tasting) mixed with chili, lime, green onion, ginger served over greens. Tasted especially fresh to me.

Have also enjoyed their Pad Thai, Sate and a Yellow Curry dish. They have a beer and wine license.
