The "family style midwestern meals" thread below got me thinking/dreaming about Ragbrai, which stands for The Registers Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa.

If you want to experience midwestern food in all its "glory" :-) get on your bike and ride across Iowa the last full week of every July.

All of the host towns and pass-through towns go all out with food and entertainment. Depending on what the route is, you can stop every 2-3 miles and eat good food in somebody's yard! The church dinners are usually really good. The pie goes on forever.

Anybody else out there have any Ragbrai comments?
