Just stopped by Coffee Bar and noted that they are hosting the floating Radio Africa Kitchen on Thursday and Friday evenings. Menu looks interesting -- lots of mezze at $6 each, and two main dishes, one chicken and one vegetarian.
At Coffee Bar, I got a chai (quite good, not overly spicy-fakey-chai flavor) supposedly made by the Radio Africa people; a cup of very good red chard, carrot, and squash soup, and a ham and cheese croissant. $12 in all, but it is all tasty and high-quality. Coffee Bar has a peculiar arrangement where the kitchen is upstairs in the back and receives orders from the computer as they are entered at the counter. For first-time take-outers like me, this means you see the bored slacker counterperson take your order and then apparently do absolutely nothing with it. But after a few moments of wondering, a man appeared with my nicely packaged soup.
