Called ahead today to pick up my first order from Rachel's Kitchen in Bay Village. Arrived to Alon taking the toasted sandwich out of the oven. The menu indicates 3 cheeses, bacon, tomato and chives on brioche. I was thinking a big hunk of heaven as I ate it.
The Globe article linked below, which Rachel showed me when I was there, indicates that the 3 cheeses were cheddar, swiss and meunster. The paper blurb also included a wonderful picture of the sandwich but it just couldn't do it justice. The online version of the article does not include a picture.
Anyway, this thing was easily 2+ inches high - a veritable monster of cheeses, amazingly delicious ripe juicy tomatoes, ample bacon all inside a delicious brioche. Two people could share this sandwich easily. With a bag of salt and pepper kettle chips and a blueberry Izze soft drink, it was a great meal for under $10.
Rachel and Alon were chatty and very nice to talk with for a bit while my sandwich was getting its finishing touches. They've been open 3 months now I guess. When they asked if I'd heard about them from the Globe blurb, I said no I lived around there but had asked about them on chowhound. Alon replied that a few people that have been in lately have mentioned chowhound as their reference point.
Next time I want to try the lobster roll. There is a picture of it on their website below - it looks pretty awesome.
