Rabieng - falling apart?

DC in DC | Mar 5, 2005 02:36 PM

Just returned from a most troubling experience at Rabieng, and we never even got to the food... Walked in for the Thai "dim sum" they serve at lunch, waited at table for 10-15 minutes during which time: (1) the manager/waiter/host argued so loudly and at such length with a caller over directions that all the customers in the place exchanged embarrassed glances; (2) three busboys/waiters came in succession to fill our water glasses, each of whom walked away sullenly, with no response and no return, when we asked for sparkling water instead; (3) no one ever came to take our order; (4) two tables of people departed after telling the manager/waiter/host that the service was terrible (mind you, he was still on the phone). The last straw? A woman at the table across from us asked a busboy if he could clean up a small mess she had made on the table. He grabbed the used, soiled napkin the woman's companion had crumpled up and placed on her plate, and used that to wipe the table.

We finally walked out. I liked Rabieng's food but it's not good enough to endure all this. Anyone else wondering if Rabieng's days are numbered??
